Scotiabank to focus on business banking education for Business Week

Scotiabank is celebrating Business Week with a cash giveaway quiz on 98.1 and a Business Plan Writer competition where the winner will be awarded a start-up account of up to $300,000, starting Monday.

The Business Plan Writer Competition was launched last week; however, Scotiabank encourages small business owners to use its Business Plan Writer, an online tool, to prepare and submit a plan for their business. The top three plans will be awarded start-up accounts valued at $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively, it said in a press release. The criteria for entries are that the business must not employ more than 20 persons, haveannual gross revenues of no more than $60 million and the investment should be between $5 million and $50 million.

“At Scotiabank, we know the valuable contribution of small business owners to the growth of the Guyana economy,” Scotiabank Country Manager Amanda St Aubyn said. She also said that the bank was committed to helping Guyanese entrepreneurs achieve their financial goals, offering relevant, advice, services and tolls that will help them to start and grow their small business. “We believe that financial literacy and business planning and knowledge are vital to our client’s business success,” St Aubyn noted.

Scotiabank is also hosting a seminar on building a business plan for select small business customers and a Money Minute Quiz on 98.1 Hot FM  from 7.30am. These activities will be held from Monday until September 28. The programme is aimed at educating the public about business banking.
