Three die in East Bank accident

Three persons lost their lives tragically this morning when the car they were travelling in crashed into a sand truck at Relief, East Bank Demerara around 11am.

Dead are Suresh Jaman, 39; his wife Indranie Deonarine, 41; and her daughter Amanda Deonarine, 16, all of Lot 12 Supply, EBD.

According to eyewitnesses, Jaman, who was driving PNN 1696, was speeding when he overtook a vehicle and landed in the path of the BK sand truck which was heading to Georgetown. Persons at the scene said that the impact sent the car crashing into a fence where it left a huge hole.

Amanda, who was in the back seat, was pulled out first and was reportedly still alive but died minutes later while lying on the road. It was noted that all three of the persons appeared to have suffered severe head injuries.

A passer-by assisted in transporting the three persons to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck, GNN 3019, is said to be in police custody.
