No serious injuries in ‘miracle’ crash

Passersby and eyewitnesses called it a “miracle” when a Linden taxi, HB 9485, crashed into another car PHH 9660 and all the persons involved escaped unhurt expect the driver of the latter.

The incident occurred along Sir David Rose Avenue in the vicinity of Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden shortly after 09:00 hrs yesterday.

Based on an eyewitness account, the two cars were both coming from Amelia’s Ward. “I was coming out de street and this grey car had he indicator on and was turning in here [Kara Kara] when blam deh other one ain’t wait and is off de road dey gone,“ said the eyewitness.

The hire car, which had two passengers at the time, landed in the drain while the other crashed into an electricity pole. Leon Mooloo of 8 Old Kara Kara, driver of PHH 9660, was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was treated and sent home. He said he had indicated and was turning into Kara Kara when “all I feel was blam and I just hold on to the steering wheel and try to save my face from it.”

Mooloo further explained that after the incident he hurried out his car to assist the occupants of the other car but they were all okay. He said the hire car driver, who Stabroek News learnt fled the scene leaving the car, apologized and promised to fix the damage to Mooloo’s car. “I know he,” Mooloo said, “he realize he was wrong and said that he didn’t expect me to turn, but I had my trafficator on.”

This newspaper understands that the hire car driver was unlicenced which might have been the reason for him fleeing the accident scene.
