Mazaruni woman set on fire by husband succumbs

Ruth Peters, who was allegedly set on fire by her reputed husband after an argument two weeks ago, succumbed to her burn injuries yesterday at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Peters was 24 and hailed from Mora Camp, Mazaruni River, the police said in a press release yesterday.

Peters was set on fire after an argument ensued between her and her husband at, Piari Landing, Mazaruni River.

A source in Bartica said that during the incident the accused was also burnt. He is currently under police guard at the Bartica Hospital.

On Wednesday, another woman, Carmelita Jones of Sophia died after she was allegedly set alight by her husband on September 18.
