Bill Express marks 10th anniversary

Bill Express on Monday celebrated its tenth year in operation and Marketing Manager Natheeah King-Mendonca said that it would commemorate the anniversary by honouring its customers, whom she dubbed its most important asset.

Bill Express is a brand of the parent company Grace Kennedy Remittances Services, which is itself a subsidiary of Grace, Kennedy and Company Ltd., Jamaica.

The company began operations in Guyana in 2002 with nine locations, but over the years its operations have grown to include over 60 locations countrywide, including sub agents in New Amsterdam, Linden, the Essequibo Coast and Lethem. The services offered include payment for utility services, school fees, cable and internet bills and micro-financing areas.

At a ceremony at its Water Street offices, King-Mendonca revealed that the company intended to award its customers in several exciting ways to commemorate the anniversary, At the top of the list was a surprise for Monday’s early customers, who were each treated with a G$5,000 reward, which would go towards any payment transaction being made at any of the company’s locations. In addition to this, patrons who were waiting to utilise the services of the Water Street branch were treated with cupcakes and drinks.

However, King-Mendonca revealed that this was just the beginning as the company would also extend its activities. She disclosed that from October 15th to October 19th, company representatives plan to camp out at various bus parks and pay the transportation cost for persons going to areas such as the East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara and around Georgetown. A Bill Express Quiz is planned for October 5th to October 31st and there will be cake sharing and surprise drawing at various outlets from October 8th to October 12th.

“The fact that we have been around so long is a testament that we must being doing something right,” King-Mendonca stated, while attributing the success of the company to the customer service it provides. She said this element was its “number one advantage” over the competition.

When asked about how the company fares with the competition supplied by other remittance services, she stated that the existence of competition “keeps us on our toes” and drives the company to continuously come up with policies to reinforce the already robust customer service system that has been constructed, and by extension, to continue to “lead the way.”

To validate this claim, Clair De Groot, a customer of Bill Express since it started its operations who was present at the ceremony, stated that she thinks the company is “very reliable” as she has “never experienced any difficulty with them.”

Agent/Owner Paul Fraser also said he has enjoyed substantial benefits from partnering with the brand and has every intention to continue this partnership.

King-Mendonca added that the company remains open to new business partners who are interested in exploring additional business relationships “as we continue to prove that we understand the business of bill payments and continue to prove that we are the leader in the industry.”
