Corentyne taxi driver shot in carjacking

A taxi driver is presently nursing gunshot wounds at the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was attacked by “passengers”  on Sunday evening before being robbed of his vehicle.

Jermaine Rover, age 21, of No 78 Village, Corentyne, Berbice sustained gunshot wounds to the face and hand.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told this newspaper yesterday afternoon that it was based on information received that police recovered the car at Plantation Foulis, West Coast Berbice with two men inside. He said that the duo is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Police said in a press release that at around 1830 hours Rover was robbed and shot by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations have reveal-ed that Rover was hired by the men to be taken to Moleson Creek. On arrival one of the men shot him to his face and right hand. They relieved him of his motor car, HB 3123 and escaped.
