Driver charged with assaulting sister

Lionel Johnson, who allegedly threatened and assaulted his sister, was yesterday released on $30,000 bail after he denied both crimes.

Johnson, 28, a driver, was arraigned before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It was alleged that on November 10, in Georgetown, Johnson, unlawfully assaulted his sister, Lisa Taylor. It was also alleged that he used threatening language on his sister, whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned.

Johnson denied both charges, while no further details about what transpired were presented to the court.

The prosecution had no objections to bail but asked that Johnson be placed on a bond to keep peace and be on good behaviour.

Magistrate Latchman granted the prosecution’s request and placed Johnson on a bond to keep the peace, pending the determination of the matter.

Bail was granted in the sum of $30,000 for both charges.

The case was adjourned until November 20, when it will be called in Court 10.
