Man dies in Puruni Road accident, four injured

An accident, which occurred last night, has left one person dead and four others injured after the land cruiser they were travelling in turned turtle at Puruni Road, Region Seven.

The dead man was identified as, Wayne Samuels of Soesdyke/Linden Highway. Those injured were being transferred from the Bartica Hospital to the Georgetown Hospital up to press time.

One of the injured has been identified as 45-year-old, Freddie Stephen, of Bartica while the other three persons are still to be identified. Two of the injured are from Bartica while the other two are said to be from Georgetown.

Stabroek News was informed that the men were coming out of Puruni Backdam and heading to Bartica when the accident occurred. The driver of the land cruiser they were travelling in apparently lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road.  Samuels was said to have died instantly while the others were taken to the Bartica Hospital this newspaper was told.
