Brick pelting lands man in court

A brick pelting incident landed a miner in Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry’s court yesterday, where he was charged with unlawful assault causing actual bodily harm.

Junior Griffith was admitted to bail in the sum of $250,000 when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.

Police Prosecutor Mavis Grant said that on November 22, Griffith got into a heated argument with Aluko Primus over Griffith’s children.

She said that Griffith picked up a brick and pelted Primus.

Primus, who sustained injury to his face and head, was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he received treatment and was released on November 24.

Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry asked for Primus’ medical record which revealed that he sustained a fractured skull.

Attorney -at-law Paul Fung-a-Fat asked Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry to be lenient on his client.

The matter will continue on December 19.
