Cops charged with killing Dameon Belgrave, granted $250,000 bail each

Sheldon Williams and Errol Williams, the two police officers accused of unlawfully killing Dameon Belgrave who was shot outside the White Castle Fish Shop, were today admitted to bail in the sum of $250,000 each after they were arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The jointly-charged duo was not required to plead to the indictable charge of manslaughter which alleges that on October 5, 2012 at Hadfield Street, they unlawfully killed Dameon Belgrave.

Sheldon Williams, 34, of Lot 33 Kildonian Village, Corentyne, Berbice has been a serving member of the Guyana Police Force for the past 16 years.

Meanwhile, Errol Williams, 41, of Lot 100 Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice, has been a serving member of the force for over 15 years.

They will make their next court appearance on January 22.
