Bajan dealer attempted to import sniper rifles

(Barbados Nation) An attempt by a local gun dealer to import ten sniper rifles into Barbados has prompted a stern response from Commissioner of Police (COP) Darwin Dottin while the United States State Department has raised the red flag.

Details of the United States government’s concerns are contained in series of confidential cables released by the international whistleblower website Wikileaks.

However, the gun dealer, Greg Cozier, is not taking the issue lying down. He has filed an injunction in the High Court in his quest to stop the police chief from revoking his dealer’s licence.

The writ filed on Wednesday also names Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite as second defendant.
