T&T mom killed despite protection order

(Trinidad Express) The domestic violence protection order granted to Rio Claro mother Julie Parris earlier this year proved worthless on Monday, when she was chopped and stabbed to death by the man whom she tried to escape.  Her son and his girlfriend were also chopped by the close male relative, but survived.

Parris, 43, was killed at the home of her son, Brian Parris, who lived with his girlfriend, Lucy Faria, at Mahabalsingh Trace, Navet Village.

The suspected killer, a 47-year-old gardener, was last night on the run from police.

Parris was killed six months after obtaining a protection order from the court instructed the suspect to leave her house at El Guanapo Estate, Navet Village. The man moved to a house nearby.

Police were told that yesterday morning, Parris went to the home of her son, Brian, 22, and Faria, 20.

Parris was accompanied by her 13-year-old son, Steve.

At around 9 a.m the suspect came to the house and began arguing with the woman before stabbing her multiple times, police said.
