Channa bomb thrown again at Lumumba’s residence

The police say they are investigating an incident that occurred at about 0010h yesterday at Kiskadee Drive, Meadow Brook, Georgetown, where a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the premises of the residence of Presidential Adviser Odinga Lumumba.

Police said that the device scorched a part of the fence of the compound and a kennel.

Several pieces of a broken bottle and a quantity of channa have been recovered by the police as the investigations continue.

A similar incident occurred on December 5 last year at Lumumba’s residence.

There was also an attack on the residence of PPP/C veteran Philomena Sahoye-Shury last December, several others on her premises prior to that and at various other locales.

In all of these cases the police have said they would investigate but there is never any charge or light from the police on the perpetrators.

In the case of the attack on Lumumba’s premises there has been public skepticism of the motive behind it.

Lumumba is presently under scrutiny by the police over a complaint that he assaulted a polling day official on November 28.

There has been a recommendation by the DPP that a charge be brought against him.
