Man admits abusing his father in cell phone spat

A man who admitted abusing his father and displaying  threatening behaviour was fined $10,000 and placed on a bond to  keep the peace for six months when he appeared before Magistrate Alan Wilson yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Lorenzo Greavesandy of 43 Alexander Village, East Bank Demerara, admitted abusing his father and behaving in a disorderly manner after his dad had accused him of stealing his cellular phone on April 2.

Lorenzo told the court that he and his father reside in the same house. He said that he did not take his father’s phone although he borrows it without his permission sometimes.

He further said that his father misplaced his phone in the house and he found it and gave it back to him.

The man added that his behaviour was brought about by ignorance and  because he was hurt badly by the allegations made against him.

His father on the other hand informed the magistrate that his son has a medical condition that causes him to behave in a disorderly manner, but he refuses to take his medication which calms him down.

Magistrate Wilson advised the man that he should assist his son to take his medication consistently.
