Bosai guard in custody over shooting

A Bosai Mining Company security guard was up to press time last evening in police custody after he allegedly shot a man who was acting suspiciously at the Coomacka Mines, Linden location, during a scuffle.

The wounded man, Linden Johnson of Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar who sustained a gunshot injury to his thigh has since been admitted a patient of the Mackenzie Hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

Police said in a press release yesterday that an investigation has been launched into the shooting incident which occurred at about 1100 hours. The release said that Johnson sustained the injury during a “confrontation with an armed” security guard.

Meanwhile, Stabroek News was reliably informed that Johnson was seen acting suspiciously and was confronted by the security guard. The man who according to reports was armed “put up some resistance” and during a scuffle was shot.
