T&T roti sellers slain

(Trinidad Express) A Sangre  Grande roti-vending couple were found killed at Coalmine yesterday.

The bodies of Gerald Jones, 47, and wife Ann Joseph, 44, both of Barker Trace, Coalmine, were discovered at Second Caijual Road.

Jones was found with a chop wound on his head, and Joseph with her throat slashed.

Police have information that a relative of the couple is a witness in a murder preliminary enquiry being heard in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court.

The discovery was made around 2 p.m. by a gardener who went to spray his crops in a field nearby.

The couple were found fully clothed near the roadside, where a blue Mazda pick-up van was parked.

Investigators believe the killings occurred overnight.

District Medical Officer Dr Oguekenma Nzedinma visited the scene and ordered the bodies removed to the Sangre Grande Hospital.

Three years ago on Boxing Day, Joseph’s son, Ricardo Dudley, was shot and killed by a masked man nearby his home at Barker Trace.

Dudley, 23, was shot in his neck and chest.

Visiting the scene yesterday were officers from the Homicide Division (East), Sangre Grande Police Station and Manzanilla Police Post.

The latest killings have taken the murder toll to 170, according to an Express tally.
