BlackBerry larceny and fraudulent conversion accused remanded

Naresh Karan pleaded not guilty to charges of simple larceny and fraudulent conversion. It is alleged that on April 30, he fraudulently converted $20,000 to his personal use and purpose which Satie Singh had given him in order to obtain five one-gallon tins of paint for her.

Khan was also charged with stealing one BlackBerry cellular phone valued $50,000 belonging to Naline Singh on Wednesday.

The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the accused did not provide a credible address to the court and he also provided an incorrect telephone number which he claimed was his mother’s. After listening to the prosecution, the magistrate remanded Khan to prison until June 18.
