J$98m worth of ganja found in Jamaica beef shipment

(Jamaica Gleaner) Narcotics police have seized 509 pounds of marijuana at the Kingston Container Terminal.

The drug which has a street value of $98 million was hidden in a 40-foot refrigerated container of boneless beef.

The Customs Department says the container was loaded in Panama and destined to Barbados via Kingston.

The Contraband was found stacked in five large travelling bags on top of the beef.

The bags were removed and examined and the marijuana handed over to the Trans National Crime and Narcotics Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

No arrests were made in connection with the seizure.
