Girl struck by car near Company Road showing signs of improvement

Fourteen-year-old Leota Eastman, who was struck down by a car while riding her bicycle in the vicinity of Company Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Saturday, is showing signs of improvement as she remains a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Hospital, a relative of the child told this newspaper yesterday.

The student of Beterverwagting Community High School sustained a broken leg and injury to the brain as a result of the accident.
Eastman of Vigilance, ECD, was stuck down around 11am by a Toyota Allion car bearing registration number PNN 7827. The entire front windscreen of the vehicle was damaged and the bicycle the girl was riding lay crushed in the middle of the road.

The driver is said to be in police custody at the Vigilance Police Station assisting with investigations.
