Guyanese man murders wife in New York

A Guyanese man fatally stabbed his wife and stuffed her in a plastic bag under a bed in their Queens, New York home, after hearing she had cheated on him, authorities and relatives said yesterday, according to the New York Post.

Ganesh Seelall, 39, faces murder, weapon-possession, weapon-tampering and other charges. The body of Samantha Seelall, 29, was found on Thursday in the Richmond Hill home they shared with their daughters, Alecia 14, and Sara, 10, the NY Post said.

“She told my brother she was having a relationship . . . and there was nothing [he] could do about it,’’ said Ganesh’s brother, who declined to give his name.

An order of protection obtained in December against Seelall was still in effect, records show, the report said.

According to the Queens Times Ledger Seelall was pronounced dead by the EMS at the house, near 89th Avenue and 117th Street, after police received a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Ganesh Seelall was allegedly drunk when police arrived at the scene, according to authorities. The husband’s brother, who did not want to give his name, said the couple was married about six years and had one 10-year-old daughter together. He said Ganesh Seelall is a nurse’s aid and also has another 14-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

He said the children were staying with him. Residents who live on the block told the Times Ledger they were shocked to hear about the murder in what they said was a quiet and nice neighborhood. “We’ve never seen anything happen like that,” said Tehal Singh, who lives across the street and said he had lived in the area for 20 years. A law enforcement source confirmed Friday there was an order of protection in place against the husband.

He has been charged with murder, aggravated criminal contempt, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.
