(Jamaica Observer) Government Minister Glynis Roberts has resigned as the Member of Parliament for St George South, as disarray continues to dog the administration of Grenada’s Prime Minister Tillman Thomas.
This means the balance of power is now 10-4 for Thomas’ New Democratic Congress.
In a statement today accepting Roberts’ resignation as environment and foreign trade minister, the Prime Minister offered no reason for her decision to quit but extended best wishes to the former minister.
Roberts is now among a string of ministers to resign in months.
In May, Karl Hood resigned as Foreign Affairs Minister saying it was an untenable and unbearable situation for him.
The Tillman Thomas government also lost Peter David, the former tourism Minister and former Trade Minister, Michael Church.
Hood is one of four MPs of the National Democratic Congress sitting as backbenchers in the House of Representatives.
Prime Minister Thomas has been under pressure for weeks with a no-confidence motion tabled in Parliament against him by Hood.

However, Thomas has sought to avoid debate on the motion by asking that the Parliament be prorogued effectively causing the motion to be dropped from Parliament’s Order Paper whenever the sittings resume.
The motion would have to be re-tabled for the matter to be debated.
Roberts previously served as Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation; Minister of Labour and Ecclesiastic Affairs and Minister of Social Development.
