Jamaican fingered in St. Maarten double murder

(Jamaica Gleaner) A Jamaican security guard has been fingered in the murder of an American couple who resided in Dutch St. Maarten.

The couple, 50-year-old, Michael and Thelma King of South Carolina, were reportedly stabbed to death last Saturday by the 28-year-old Jamaican who goes by the initial M.K.J.

The Dutch islands’ legal system refers only to the initials in criminal cases.

A statement from the chief prosecutor in the case, Hans Mos last Saturday, stated that the police found the bodies of the couple at the Ocean Club Resort in Cupecoy.

Both appeared to have sustained lethal stab wounds.

“The woman was tied onto a chair. The man was lying on the floor and partially over another chair. The motive of this horrific crime is yet unclear,” said Hans Mos, who added that the doctor who was at the crime scene found no indication whatsoever of a possible sexual motive.

A police investigation team of 25 officers are involved in the investigation.
