(Trinidad Express) Attorney General Anand Ramlogan has assured supporters of the People’s Partnership government that his job is secure.
Speaking at the Pre-Budget Rally at Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas yesterday Ramlogan described Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley as dishonest, adding that Rowley was after him because of lawsuits he has filed against him.
He told the people, “I aint moving nowhere. I aint going nowhere.”
“Keith Rowley wanted me to resign before I became Attorney General. I want to tell you why Rowley is after Anand Ramlogan because of the number of corruption lawsuits coming from left, right and centre. east, west, north and south.”
Ramlogan went on to list the number of lawsuits he has already filed, the ones he intends to file and the reasons behind them.
Ramlogan said: “Today I want to report to you that we have served a pre action letter on the former board of Petrotrin led by Malcolm Jones to recover TT$1.2 billion for the gas to liquid plant. UDeCOTT and Calder Hart, I have sued for TT$465 million.”
He said other entities sued included the board of e TecK.
Dr Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Housing said, “Today we must tell Rowley that we support the Partnership and the Honourable Prime Minister.”
He said Rowley was fast and bold and out of place to be telling the Prime Minister who should be in her Cabinet. He said the only place Ramlogan was going to work was for the people of Trinidad and Tobago as AG.
He said Rowley was working night and day to bring down the People’s Partnership government.
Moonilal, who supported Ramlogan’s stance on Rowley’s dishonesty, said Rowley was dishonest to the country about getting 25,000 signatures on the petition taken to President’s House against Section 34.
He said according to People’s National Movement (PNM) sources the President rejected the petition because there were no signatures.
“This afternoon I want to tell Rowley where is the petition? Show us,” he said.
Acting President Timothy Hamel-Smith told TV6 News last night, that although he received a petition condemning the Section 34 issue from Rowley there were no signatures attached.
He said Rowley promised him these signatures, but he had not received any yet.
