Linden man remanded over murder of brothers

The day after the man accused of murdering two brothers was remanded to prison, the family has laid the bodies to rest and hopes that justice will be served.

Abdul Budhoo, 27 years old of 711 Industrial Area, Mackenzie, Linden, was remanded to prison on Tuesday by Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared in the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on two counts of murder. The charges were laid indictably and Budhoo was not required to plead. He is to return to court on 7th November, 2012 for report.

A festering dispute over the non-payment of money for work done allegedly resulted in Budhoo aka Brother fatally stabbing his two cousins: Imran Bacchus aka Taffo and Sheed Bacchus, both 26 years old of 211 Wismar Street, Mackenzie Linden on Sunday morning.

The brothers were laid to rest yesterday according to Muslim rites and were interred at the Christianburg Cemetery.

It was an emotional scene as a large crowd of residents gathered to pay the men final respects. The mother of the murder accused had to be whisked away from the home of the victims after angry persons swarmed her.
