Girl held after ganja found in tyres at Ogle

A 17-year-old girl was yesterday arrested by Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officials after one gram of compressed marijuana was found in two car tyres that she had dropped off to be sent in on an Air Services Limited (ASL) flight to Imbaimadai.

The girl is said to be in custody assisting with investigations. It is uncertain at this point whether charges will be laid.

On November 13, a man destined for an interior location was found with over 1 kilogramme of marijuana in the soles of three pairs of boots he had in his possession.

Police Public Relations and Press Officer Whitney Bacchus stated that the man, who was destined for Imbaimadai, Mazaruni, in Region 7, was stopped and searched at the Ogle Airport by police ranks and that the search unearthed the drug stashed in three pairs of boots he had in his possession.
