Shot Chinese man undergoing more tests

X-rays had to be done yesterday on the legs of the Chinese man who was shot on Saturday evening when he rushed to the aid of his employer who was being robbed outside her Regent Street store.

John Tian Xiang, 24, is now a patient of the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital and is said to be paralyzed from the waist down. He remains in an unconscious condition.

Sources at the hospital said that after tests were done and it was realized that the patient had no feelings in the leg, he was taken to do x-rays to determine what might be the cause of this. The Chinese National was shot to his abdomen and had to have one of his kidneys removed as a result.

The man had observed his aunt, Ling (only name given) being confronted by two men after they had closed the business.

It was explained that the unmasked bandits discharged four shots at Xiang before fleeing on their CG motorcycle.

Xiang was said to have suffered a single gunshot wound but sources said the possibility exists that he was shot more than once based on the injuries.
