Demerara Bank fast and reliable with NIS pensions in contrast to ECD post offices

Dear Editor,

As a National Insurance Scheme pensioner I think that it may be appropriate for me to state here that myself and my fellow pensioner who is my neighbour, were very pleased and satisfied with the services we received recently at the Demerara Bank branch at Le Ressouvenir on the East Coast of Demerara as compared to the past services at some post offices on the East Coast.

We were treated with courtesy and respect from the guards to the tellers, and were satisfied that our sums of money were correct. Given some of the erstwhile poor services we have experienced at some post offices on the East Coast, we would be unfaithful to ourselves and to other pensioners if we did not mention the much better service at the bank.

At the post office, after waiting for almost three-quarters of the day, when one finally reached the counter staff tired and hungry, one had to be worried if the amount given was correct, taking into consideration that you are not given your coins and all the rumours circulating that older folks with poor education and poor eyesight are not given the full amount due to them.

My friend and fellow pensioner told me this morning that he did not have to count his NIS pension after receiving it from the pretty, courteous  teller at Demerara Bank, as he had the “feeling“ that his money was correct. Then he ended up saying as we were parting for our various homes, “Bai, me go always go ah Demerara Bank; dem fast and reliable, thank you fu tel me.”

Your faithfully,
