GT&T finals were a rewarding experience

Dear Editor,

My very first visit to GT&T’s 2012 10/10 finals was indeed a rewarding experience and it was a joy to witness an event well supported by all the ethnic groups of Guyana. There were powerful prize giveaways, no pelting of glass bottles because beverages were served in sanitary cups at the bars, and a well-behaved crowd.

However, I was disappointed that my ticket was collected and not torn in half. A lot came to mind immediately and hope GT&T can give an explanation for such a decision. In addition, I didn’t notice any security/police personnel standing just above patrons in the stands, and that should be considered priority. There were so many kids playing and running around and I didn’t want to witness anyone slipping and going over. Thank heavens they were smart kids. Adults need to take some extra precautions when allowing kids to play and run on the top floor of the stands during an event.

I did not expect to witness Adrian Dutchin and Jomo switching over to GT&T from Digicel and performing live. I always felt that they were going to stay with Digicel; I guess it’s all about the revenue.

Digicel now have some serious competition ahead of them. I would suggest that they consider contracting Machel Montano for Mash 2013 as a back-up to whichever local artiste they may have in mind to endorse. Having MM on their team would make them a force to reckon with, and they would have the city locked down for that event in 2013, although that would depend in the first place on their participation.

Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
