Equal accessEqual access: The National Commission on Disability (NCD) yesterday launched the first of a series of designated access areas for differently-abled persons with this wheelchair sign outside of the outside of the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) headquarters in Georgetown. Simone Poole of NCD said that the initiative was launched as a result of complaints received from members about the entrances of business and public places being blocked by vehicles although the Persons with Disability Act clearly states that people with disabilities have an equal right to access public and private buildings and that they must be kept free of barriers.
