Orphanage gets literacy corner

Orphanage gets literacy corner: Five final year Social Work degree students of the University of Guyana as part of their final project undertook an eight-week literacy programme with the 25 children of the Bless the Children Home Orphanage located in Industry Front, East Coast Demerara. During the period the children were helped with their homework and given tips on how to efficiently complete their homework and assignments. The group also donated stationary to the children.  The group raised funds through punch-cards and also received donations from the Neal & Massy Group of Companies, Money Gram & CCS Store, the Guyana Book Foundation and Juice Power. At the end of the eight weeks the group created a literacy corner at the home where the children can now complete their homework. In this photograph, members of the group: Melissa Gentle, Carolyn Paul, Soyinka Grogan, Natasha Hyman and Renella Hamilton are seen with some of the children recently at the handing over exercise for the literacy corner.
