GFF Super League….NA United face uphill task to make playoffs

The Uitvlugt Community Centre ground will be the venue for the final two matches of the GFF Super League preliminary competition today with the first game set to start at 13:00 hours.The first match will feature NA United of Berbice against Mill Ballers of Bartica.

The feature game will see Grove Hi Tech of East Bank Demerara squaring off with Den Amstel of West Demerara at 15:00 hours.
The Berbice side faces an uphill task to reach the playoffs since they will have to win by at least five clear goals and will also have to wait on the outcome of the Grove Hi Tech/Den Amstel clash to know their fate.

A win for Grove Hi Tech will also put them in striking position for a place in the playoff also with six points but a win for Den Amstel could see the West Demerara side reaching the next round.

Amelia’s Ward of Linden have already secured a place in the next round and will join the other Linden team Milerock, Alpha United, Western Tigers and Pele of Georgetown, Victoria Kings  and Buxton United of East Coast Demerara,Seawall of West Demerara  and Rosignol United of Berbice.

Tournament Coordinator Lawrence “Sparrow” Griffith said disclosed that the playoff will kick off next Sunday with five matches at various venues.

The venues identified are Georgetown Football Club ground, Mackenzie Sports Club in Linden, Buxton and Beterverwagting grounds on the East Coast, Uitvlugt in West Demrara and Blairmont in West Berbice.

The Super League was launched in 2009 with a two-year grant from CONCACAF, the Confederation for North, Central America and the Caribbean Football to promote the sport  at the senior, women and junior levels.
