Cheddi Jagan Memorial 55–mile cycle race pedals off tomorrow in Berbice

National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed, MS, will have  the 15th Annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial 55–mile cycle road race pedaling off  tomorrow in Berbice.

The race will commence from Freedom House, New Amsterdam at 09:00hrs then proceed to Number 55 Village on the Corentyne before returning to Port Mourant for the finish.

The veterans, upright and female category cyclists will turn back at Hogstye on the Corentyne.

The first six senior finishers, three juniors, veterans and upright, two females and the first over 60 years and oldest cyclist will all receive prizes.

Eight prime prizes will be up for grabs during the course of the race.

The race is sponsored by B&K International INC.

Last year’s senior winner was   Junior Niles in two hours, eight minutes and 39 seconds. The top junior was Raynauth Jeffrey, female Naomi Singh, veteran Ian Jackson, upright Dexter Wilson, veteran over 60 years Monty Parris while Walter Isaacs was the oldest finisher.

Transportation for cyclists and officials leaves tomorrow from the National Sports Commission’s Office, 91 Middle Street, at 5 am.
