Cheddi Jagan Memorial 50-mile road race pedals off tomorrow

National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed has organized the fourth annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial 50-mile cycle road race for tomorrow.

According to a press release, the race will commence from Wales Police Station at 9am, proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.

The veteran and upright cyclists will turn back at the Uitvlugt Community Centre to finish at the Harbour Bridge.

The first six seniors, three juniors, three veterans, three uprights, two females and first over-60 years  cyclists will all receive prizes.  Eight prime prizes will be won during the course of the race.

The race is sponsored by Clay Brick factory on behalf of the People’s Progressive Party Group of Goed Fortuin.

Last year’s senior winner was Ian Jackson in one hour, 58 minutes and 47 seconds. The junior winner was Kurt LaRose, while the veteran, upright and female winners were Kennard Lovell, Jude Bentley and Naomi Singh respectively.
