Taylor claims top spot in batting rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC – Prolific West Indies opener Stafanie Taylor is now the world’s top ranked women’s batsman.

In the latest release of the rankings yesterday, the 20-year-old right-hander rose one place to overtake India’s Mithali Raj, and assume the top spot in the rankings.
Taylor now has 752 rating points, 25 ahead of Raj.

The Jamaican helped West Indies win the three-match One-Day International series, 2-1, scoring 99 runs with a highest score of 75.

Raj, entered the series 11 rating points of Taylor, struggled with 83 runs.
Taylor, the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in 2011, also jumped three spots into fifth in the bowlers’ rankings, stabilising her position as the world’s best all-rounder.

Fellow off-spinner Anisa Mohammed, however, dropped one spot to six but left-arm seamer Shanel Daley jumped five places to 13th.

Meanwhile, Windies middle order batsman Deandra Dottin has remained unmoved at number seven in the batting rankings while captain Merissa Aguilleira has risen eight places to 16th and Juliana Nero has jumped four spots to 18th.
