GT&T 10/10 nationwide softball tourney

On another absorbing day’s play in the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph (GT&T) 10/10 nationwide softball cricket competition, more encouraging individual performances were recorded with the most interesting game contested in the West Demerara Zone.

Playing at the Leonora Primary School Ground,  West Coast Demerara, it was a David versus Goliath scenario when Hits and Jams All Stars – an Under-12 team – took on Smack Down.

Hits and Jams All Stars bowled out Smasck Down for 86 and rattled the opposition bowling as they reached 89-3 off just 6.2 overs.

In other results at the same venue, Super X1 made 153-5 off their 10 overs; Dubraj Singh stroking 31. Island Vibes in response were bowled out for 53.

Gunners were bowled out for 71 in 10 but struck back in style to evict Street Warriors for 56.

Ultimate Warriors posted 97-5 in their 10 overs against Irfan X1 who were sent packing for 44 off 8.3 overs.

Rising Star eased their way to 55-3 in 7.2 overs responding to 54 all out by Uitvlugt Superstars.

Cornelia Ida Ground United Nexus 99-7 off 10 overs; Arjune De Roop 18, Terrance Richmond 2-6. 911 Survivors 76-6 in 10 overs; Shyon Vigilance 22, George Jeffers 3-17. Uprising Youth 48 all out; Anthony Arjune 3-4, Rayon Sookram 3-2. Croos Bread X1 52-1 in 4.4 overs; Anthony Arjune 18.

Cornelia Ida Sports Club 100 all out in 10 overs; Nazim Naseer 24.Sunshine X1 82 all out; Selwyn Alberts 3-13. Superior Warriors 103-7 in 10 overs; Azam Khan 25, Govinda Gaindyal 2-3. Max Life X1 109-3 in 9.4 overs; Jermaine Maxwell 35. De Kindren Uprising 109-5 in 10 overs; Levan Lochand 37*, Richard Ready 28. Surprise Warriors 70-4 in 10 overs.

South Essequibo  –  Hibernia Ground

Golden Fleece defeated Zorg Under-17; Eknauth Persaud slammed 99 for the winners. Rising Stars got the better of Rising Warriors. Adventure Night Riders beat Abramszuil Secondary School. Zorg Two lost to Invader Masters.

El Dorado Ground Adventure Sports Club blazed their way to 199-2 off their 10 overs with Bholo Sanker stroking 95. Underdogs in response were 54-5 off 4.2 overs when the game had to be abandoned due to fading light.

In other results, El Dorado got past Hibernia; Young Warriors were too good for Airy Hall Titans while Tsunami were in winners row again, this time against Endeavour.

Linden – Bayrock Ground

South Star made 149-3 off their 10 overs; Eon Reddock 56*. Central Star 97-7 in 10 overs; Akinni Wilson 36, Collis Duke 2-12. Long Creek Royals 79-9 in 10 overs; Sherland Henry 20, Dodie Brijlall 3-15. Bad Boys 84-2 in 6.2 overs; Dodie Brijlall 36, Paul Cornelius 2-13. Kwakwani All Stars won by walkover from Kwakwani Kings.  In the capital city, the Everest Cricket Club Ground was buzzing with intense rivalry.

In female play, Mike’s Wellwoman, one of the leading female sides made light work of Overcomers. Mike’s Wellwoman batted first and posted and imposing 107-1 with Onica Wallerson leading the way with 62 (2×6 6×4), Joann Vansertima backed up with 25. In reply, Overcomers were overwhelmed as they stuttered to 67-7 in their 10 overs to lose by 40 runs.

Other female results – Jungle Strikers eased to a solid 10-wicket win over Christ Church who made 50-6 from 10 overs; S. Sayers made 15. Jungle Strikers responded with 51-0; Donica Lyle led the way with 28, Wonnetta Wayne 20.

Fabulous Squad Reloaded won an exciting battle against All Start Girl Mix by 7 runs. The former were limited to 78-6 off their 10 overs with Candace Semple hitting 15. Whilst the total seemed gettable, All Start Girl Mix found the going too tough as they were dislodged for 72; Abiola Jacobs led with 27 in a losing effort.

Solo Revelers won comfortably over Green Warriors by 68 runs. Solo Revelers lashed their way to 116-2 with Ulrica Sutherland unbeaten on 46, Sonia Jardine supported with 41. Green Warriors struggled to 48-8 when their overs ran out; Chevana Singh made 16.
