The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company’s “Wrestlemania Guyana” proved to be a big hit as thousands attended the live, high energy wrestling event which got underway Saturday evening at the National Park.

Wrestling superstar Bill Goldberg made a brief appearance at the event along with 15 exciting wrestlers from the United States of America and a few from Guyana.

The atmosphere was full of energy, laughter and fun as the event showcased amazing lighting and sound effects and heart pumping professional wrestling action. The 15 wrestling stars included Paul London, Butterbean, Shad Gaspard, Gail Kim, Raven, Big Daddy V, Like Gallows, Katie Lee Burchill, Daivari, Domino, Paul Burchill, Tom Howard, Paul Lee and Sylvester Terkay. According to Chief Organiser Lisa Insanally, one of the main objectives of the event was to create a fun-filled, family event where all Guyanese of every age can come together in a safe environment and enjoy good clean entertainment.  Insanally said that many wrestling fans are in Guyana and professional wrestling is something one only sees on television. She lamented the fact that other persons have talked about bringing wrestling to Guyana but nothing had materialized adding that for GT&T to come forward and spearhead this entertainment was truly remarkable.  She added that Guyana will be placed on the international stage as it relates to wresting and it is her hope that amidst all the concerts and other stage shows that “WrestleRama” will inject something different and exciting. The organiser also stressed that it is the objective of the promotional group to do something that will promote positive family values, ease the tension and foster unity amidst all the negativity Guyanese face in the society.

Theevent is being sponsored by GT&T, Banks DIH (Demico Ice-Cream, Powerade & I-Cee), Princess Hotel, Giftland OfficeMax, Gizmos & Gadgets, EZJet, Star Party Rentals, NCN, New Thriving, Hot & Spicy, Mojo’s, HJ TV and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
