Mc Ewan leads Assassins to victory in Atina’s Super Foods sponsored tourney

Skipper Colin Mc Ewan led Assassins dominoes team to victory in the inaugural Father’s Day tournament sponsored by  Adina’s Super Foods of 55E upper Robb Street,(between Albert & Oronoque Streets)  Bourda  and held at the Strikers Sports Club.

Assassins ended on 77 games edging out Fire on 76 and C7 on 73.

The winning team took home $100,000 and trophy sponsored Atina’s Super Foods while Fire received $60,000 and trophy sponsored by F&H Supremes.

The much vaunted C-7 failed to live up to expectations and pocketed $40,000 and a trophy donated by Strikers Sports Club.

Trophies were sponsored by F&H Printing, Michael `Jaggy’ Persaud,   Patterson & Patterson Associates and Atina’s Super Foods.

Some eight teams, Providence Sports Club, Strikers, C-7, Assassins, Fire, Mix Up, Dominators and Lightning Reflection Bar paid the entrance fee of $10,000 while the sponsors Fox and Gittens put up the remainder of the prize money.

Entrepreneur of Atina’s Super Foods, Jerry Jaikarran, formally launched his company simultaneously.

According to Jaikarran consumers can purchase quality American made items at an unbeatable wholesale and retail prices, namely Wesson, Clorox, Bounty, Air Wick, and Lipton among others.

There is also a cash back promotion that was launched by way of spending a minimum of $5,000 and you will be automatically eligible to win $100,000 on September 29.

In a press release, the organizers voiced their concerns over the conduct of players in and out of the venue.

The event which was scheduled to commence at 2:30pm, only got underway at 4:15pm and concluded at 01:55am because of the “unbecoming and usual lackadaisical attitude of participating teams,” stated the released.

The organizers did say however, that despite those shortcomings, it turned out to be a great day for fathers as Ansa McAL had giveaways in the form of Stag Beers and Mackeson Stouts for lucky fathers while Banks DIH R1 Vodka and XM VXO Rum also had their promotions.
