NCBL shifts to Linden this evening

The National Community Basketball League (NCBL) will shift to Linden this evening once again as the final quarterfinal game between Western Union Central Mackenzie and Kwakwani tips off at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Courts from 19:00hrs.

Central Mackenzie, who will have home court advantage come game time, will be looking to carry a slower, more controlled pace to the game as their experience and size in a set offensive scheme can severely wear down the much smaller Kwakwani side.

Their physicality and ability to rebound the basketball will also be key areas if they are to win against Kwakwani who are known for their fast play.

Akeem Kanhai

On the other hand, Kwakwani will be looking to use their speed and athleticism to their advantage against the much bigger and more physical home side.

Kwakwani will depend on Dominique Douglas, who is still due for a break out performance in the tournament as he has not been finding his shooting touch. They will also have to depend on Dave Causeway and the Thomas brothers (Shelroy and Sheldon) for  consistency.

However, with Central Mackenzie boasting such players as Steve Neils Jr, Jason Alonzo, Akeem ‘The Dream’ Kanhai, Shane Webster and Neil Marks, all of whom have donned the national colors before,  a daunting task faces Kwakwani.

Further, the match-up will be an intriguing one as Kwakwani will look to push the tempo while Central Mackenzie will look to play to their pace in order to secure a victory to face McDoom/Diamond in the second semifinal of the tournament.

In the supporting game the East Allstars of Linden will come up against the West Allstars of Linden in an all out shoot out. Both teams are expected to run and gun at each other.

With Linden being a haven for basketball talent, it is only expected that both teams showcase their talent during the course of the game with the hard defence and fiery offence, that everyone in Linden and the basketball fraternity have come to know.

Moreover with the first semifinal of Wismar and Western Union Plaisance/Vryheids Lust already set, McDoom/Diamond will seemingly have a key interest in the final quarterfinal as they will have to trade baskets with the winners of the much anticipated rival match-up.
