Malta cycling programme kicks off hectic weekend for cyclists

The country’s top cyclists are in for a busy weekend with events being held every day from today and continuing over the next two days.

Today’s Malta Supreme-sponsored 11-race programme will kick off the hectic weekend for the cyclists and will be followed by tomorrow’s road race over at West Demerara and culminate on Monday with the Flying Ace’s Cycle Club CARICOM Day meet in Berbice.

Today’s event, organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed gets underway at 9am.

The events are: 12 to 14 yrs boys and girls over three laps; BMX boys 6 to 9 years, two laps; veterans under 50 years of age, five laps; BMX boys 9 to 12 years old, three laps; veterans over 50 years, five laps; BMX boys 12 to 14 years, three laps; veterans over 60 years, five laps, BMX boys Open, three laps; juveniles, 10 laps and the feature event, the schoolboys and invitational 35-lap event.

Clayton McKenzie, Brand Manager of Banks DIH Limited, will distribute the prizes to the respective winners at the completion of today’s event.
