Plaisance, Marian Academy score lopsided wins

Plaisance Academy and Marian Academy continued their dominant play last Friday evening to reach the semi-finals of the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Both teams steamrolled their opponents recording lopsided wins with Plaisance Academy routing the Guyana School of Agriculture 99-62 while Marian Academy crushed Queen’s College by 62 points to 25.

Nikkoloi Smith lead Plaisance Academy with 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals.

Smith was supported by his in-form teammate Nicholas Cassius who had a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Marian Academy was equally as formidable against Queen’s College with Dominic Vincente leading the way with 19 points and four steals.
Ruel Ritch was equally as impressive scoring 15 points and grabbing four steals to help put away Queen’s College.

The two winning sides were down to play each other in last night’s semi-final. The other semifinal pitted two Region 10 schools, Kwakwani and the Linden Technical Institute (LTI). In their quarter-final clash on Friday, Kwakwani dominated the University of Guyana winning 72-45 with Dominique Douglas scoring 21 points with five assists while Junior Primo grabbed 15 boards while netting 12 points.

Not to be outdone LTI muzzled newcomers Wismar with a 57-38 victory.
Marlon Pollydore was outstanding for LTI with 19 points and five assists while Geoffrey La Rose picked up 15 rebounds while scoring 16 points.
