West Indies slip to eighth in ICC Test rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC – West Indies have fallen to one from bottom of the pack in the International Cricket Council Test rankings.

The former world champions are now only above Bangladesh, after sliding one spot to eighth in the newest rankings released yesterday.

New Zealand, who they face in a two-Test series starting later this month, have replaced them in seventh.

The Windies have not won a Test yet this year while losing four of the six they have played. They lost three-Test series to both Australia and England by 2-0 margins.

West Indies have won just two Test series in the last seven years.

Meanwhile, world number one England have strengthened their position at the top of the standings on 122 points and are now six rating points ahead of Australia who have overtaken South Africa to occupy second.

England and South Africa meet in a three-Test series starting next Thursday.

Pakistan have replaced India in fourth despite losing 1-0 in their three-match series to Sri Lanka recently.

India, top of the rankings this time last year, are now fifth.
