Big wins for Malteenoes, Transport and DCC ‘B’

Shaquille Williams scored a century and picked up four wickets to lead Malteenoes to a rout of Everest Cricket Club in their back yard on Camp Road as the David Persaud Investments Cup got underway in fine style on Thursday.

Williams’ undefeated 108 put Malteenoes on course for a score of 263 all out. He was supported by 58 from Nichosie Barker. In reply, Everest were bowled out for 79 with only Steven Ramdass showing any resistance with 25. Williams returned with the ball to take 4 for 6 while Kareem Naughton collected 4 for 13.

At GNIC, the Demerara Cricket Club B side opened its account with an 132-run victory over St. Stanislaus College. DCC B made 186 for 9 with R. Balgobin (59), K Savory (54) and D Crandon (32) the main contributors.

N. Doodnauth took 5 for 41 and C. Gaspar 2 for 38. In reply, St. Stanislaus College struggled to 52 all out in 21 overs. S. DeSouza took 3 for 3 and Crandon 3 for 5 for DCC B.

Transport Sports Club rolled over Ace Warriors for 29 in just seven overs at Gandhi Youth Organization after they had earlier scored 188. TSC’s 188 came from contributions of 60 from Sunil Singh and 27 from D. Whitney (27).

Bowling for Ace Warriors, E. Ward picked up 4 for 18, D. Peters 2 for 31 and J. Raphael 2 for 58.  A. Vickram led the charge for Transport with the ball by picking up 4 for 8 while K. Morris had 2 for 15.
