It will be a clash of the titans on September 15 when Guyanese Gwendolyn ‘Stealth Bomber’ O’Neil and American Carlette Ewell battle for the UBO World Heavyweight and WIBA Heavyweight titles in North Carolina.

O’Neil and Ewell’s bout will be the first on the Trilogy Card scheduled for the Joel Coliseum Annex in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

In an exclusive interview with Stabroek Sport at the Andrew ‘Six Heads’ Lewis Gym, O’Neil said she is preparing hard for her second rematch against the North Carolina native Ewell.

“I am more than confident that I could defeat her, because God is on my side. So don’t mind I going in her hometown.  I just want her to enter the ring.”

This is the third time that the two are meeting –  O’Neil won their first encounter while Ewell secured  the  second by a one-point difference.

The ‘Stealth Bomber’ said she is currently working on losing a few pounds before entering the ring.
“I just come down to do some running, I am running up there (United States), but I am not getting the kind of sweat that I want. So I prefer to come down in my hometown and do come cross country.”

“Carlette Ewell has a lot of weight, she weighs 250 pounds but I am not checking on that. Right now I have a little over 200 pounds but want to come down to 190 pounds.”

O’Neil said while she is a heavyweight boxer she does not take fights in the 200-pound weight category.

“The last fight we fought, Ewell was 250 but I have to lose the weight because too much weight slows me up in the ring.”

O’Neil said she will return to the US on September 9th and leaves for North Carolina two days later.
