Bosai Minerals Inc. donates $300,000 to LABA for Open Challenge b/ball c/ships

The Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s (LABA) Open Challenge  tournament, sponsored by Bosai Minerals Group of Guyana is  set to bounce off on Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.

Seven clubs affiliated to LABA will contest the tournament which will be played on week-ends.

The clubs  are Kashif and Shanghai Kings, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Victory Valley Royals, Wismar Pistons, Retrieve Raiders, Half Mile Bulls and Block 22 Flames.

Teams will be  seeded based on the results of the last Trophy Stall championships held earlier this year which saw the Kashif and Shanghai Kings emerging as the top seed, and placed in two groups.

There will be one game on Saturday when there will be an official opening ceremony while on Sunday there will be a double header.

Recently the Linden bauxite operations majority owners delivered on a promise made to enhance the promotion of sports in the Mining Town with a timely donation of $300,000 to LABA.

LABA’s assistant treasurer Rowena Dejonge accepted the donation which was made by Production Superintendent of Bosai Jason Wang in the company’s  administrative office boardroom.

According to a release  from LABA Wang said that his company was pleased to make the donation as they accept responsibility as a corporate body in the town which is committed to encourage the promotion of sports in the community where they operate.

DeJonge thanked the company for their contribution stating that  it came at a challenging time for the sport in the region.

Among those who were present at the presentation ceremony were Chairman of the BOSAI Sports Committee, Wayne Bethune, Community Relations Assistant, Vanessa Mitchell-Davis and  LABA  secretary Joseph Chapman. Financial contributions were also made to the Guyana Beach Football Association and the Victory Valley Royals Basketball club.
