Guyana’s Golden Jaguars football team will be looking to bounce back against Curacao tonight after an upset 1-2 loss against their other Group Two foe, St. Vincent and the Grenadines in their opening game of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Cup at the Beausejour Stadium here in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Sunday. The senior national team is in a must-win situation in order to gain six points and be one of the two teams qualifying for the next round.

Captain Christopher Nurse told Stabroek Sport in an exclusive interview following the team’s practice session yesterday that the Jaguars have put the defeat behind them and was ready to roar tonight against the Lesser Antilles island that went down to host St. Lucia, 1-5 on Sunday.

“The mood in the camp is positive. The game is tomorrow (today), yesterday’s game has gone so we are just focusing on the next game ahead, everybody is being positive and we will give the best performance that we can,” said Nurse.

“We will be more attacking but at the same time, teams are playing us with a lot of respect and they are playing 11 players behind the ball which makes it very difficult to break them down like St. Vincent did on Sunday,” he added.

“If you check the stats they had three shots and scored two goals, they sat with 11 players behind the ball which made it very difficult to break them down which was why we struggled to create chances but we have worked with the coaching staff and we found ways to be more successful when teams put so many players behind the ball.”

Nurse also declared that the team will be further bolstered by the inclusion of Walter `Boyd’ Moore and Vurlon Mills who were unavailable for Sunday’s game.

The Golden Jaguars starting 11 will most likely be made up of Nurse, Treyon Bobb, Gregory `Jackie Chan’  Richardson, Charles Pollard, Julien Edwards, Konata Mannings, Dwight Peters, Colin Nelson, Vurlon Mills, Walter `Boyd’ Moore and goalkeeper Ronson Williams.

Kick off time is 18:00hrs.
