Loris Nathoo wins Senior National Chess Qualifiers

Loris Nathoo  is the champion the Uniparts sponsored Senior Chess qualifiers which concluded on Sunday at Kei-Shars Sports Club, Hadfield Street. In a tie breaker, Nathoo defeated Glenford Corlette.

Both Nathoo and Corlette finished on 5.5 points and are among the seven qualified to face defending champion Taffin Khan in the Senior Chess Championship.

Other qualifiers for the senior championship are: former champion Kriskal Persaud and Frankie Farley with 5 points apiece, the lone female Maria Thomas on 4.5 points and President of the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) Shiv Nandalall and Craig Sylvester on 4 points each.

Junior Chess Champion Anthony Drayton who participated in the tournament will miss the opportunity to face Khan in the Senior Championship after finishing in 8th place.
GCF President, Nandalall said that the championship will be held later this month, but said a date has not yet been confirmed.
