New president says fixing broken ties is top priority

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad,  CMC-Raymond Tim Kee says his first assignment as new president of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) is to mend a broken relationship between the federation and the Ministry of Sports.

Relations between the TTFF and the Ministry grew sour after sports minister Anil Roberts announced in parliament that funding to the federation was being cut.

A war of words which erupted between the federation and Roberts was prompted by a claim from the sports minister alleging a lack of accountability for funds to support the national football team in 2011.

“I am going to them (the Min-istry of Sport) with humility and respect,” said Tim Kee, due to meet with officials this week.

Tim Kee, a former Federation Vice president, was elected unopposed at the TTFF congress Sunday following the recent withdrawal of former national cricketer Colin Murray and interim president Lennox Watson.
