Princess Street scored a 6-0 victory over Laing Avenue on Thursday when the Guinness in the Street football competition continued at the East Ruimveldt Basketball Court.

Princess Street was one of seven teams recording victories while there was one draw.

In the first match of the evening Frank Dover scored the lone goal for Bent Street against Festival City while the second match saw Princess Street drubbing Laing Avenue. Shevon Seaforth and Leon Grumble netted doubles in the 17th and 20th minutes  and 26th and 27th minutes respectively while the remaining goals were scored by  Ronson Williams in the third minute and Kelvin McKenzie in the 11th.

Probably the most exciting match of the night was between Lodge Housing Scheme and Albouystown B which quite fittingly ended in the only stalemate of the evening.

From the opening whistle, Albouystown took over displaying their fancy footwork while setting up what would have been beautiful goals had the strikers been able to finish up front.

Action in Thursday night’s Guinness in the Streets football competition.

Lodge Housing Scheme with a young team managed to hold their own but they too like Albouystown missed several easy opportunities at goal. Both sides also played some amount of selfish football which was also partially responsible for the nil all result in the end.

Sophia B defeated Island All Starr in the fourth match by a 1-nil margin with Josh Kamal netting for Sophia in the fourth minute. Even though they had a number of missed opportunities at goal they successfully managed to put up a strong defence against Island All Starr.

Defending champions Back Circle edged out Norton Street West by a 2-1 margin. An own goal in the fourth minute followed by Andy Duke in the 11th minute was enough for Back Circle to register a victory in round two. Nigel DeCamp scored for Norton Street in the 16th minute.

The sixth match saw Norton Street East defeating East La Penitence by a 1-0 margin. Radison George scored for Norton Street East in the sixth minute.

Game seven saw Globe Yard defeating Albouystown A by a 1-0 margin with Lionel `Lalai’ Grimes scoring in the first minute for Globe Yard.

In the final match of the night, Queen Street Tiger Bay defeated East Front Road by a 3-0 margin. Both Deon Alfred scored two goals in the fifth and 18th minutes while Leon Fredericks scored in the 17th minute.

Play continues today at the Banks DIH Car Park with another eight matches: Broad Street A- Charlestown engaging Kitty, Stevedore Housing Scheme against Cross Street, Durban Street meeting Leopold Street, West Front Road and California Square, Alexander Village tackling Kingstown, Broad Street B and South Ruimveldt, West Back Road vs Sophia A and Hope Street – Tiger Bay and North – Last Entrance.
