Most Valuable Player car handed over to K&S

The Edward B. Beharry Group of Companies yesterday handed over a Toyota Allex car to the organisers of the annual Kashif and Shanghai Football tournament at the company’s Charlotte Street Head Office.

The motor car will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the tournament.
Edward Anand Beharry, Chairman of the Beharry Group of Companies said “it is the very first time that our group is involved in sponsorship of this magnitude of any sporting event. We take great pride in being the first to do this with this tournament and with football in Guyana”. Beharry said together with the sponsorship of the under-13 school football competition this shows the company’s commitment to development of football in Guyana.

Football, he said, plays an important part in the lives of the development of the country and its people especially the young.
“Sport is the one thing that unites the people of any country. Cricket does it, football in Europe does it, baseball and American football does in the United States and in Guyana we have motor racing, football and cricket which are the things that unite us and we want to be a part of it. Because it is time that football takes its rightful place in our Country and within our people”. Co-Director of the Kashif and Shanghai organization, Kashif Mohammed said the organization is pleased to have the Beharry Group coming on board.

“We are extremely grateful for having this company coming on board and we would love if this could be duplicated next year”.

According to Beharry, the company has so far invested some $4 million which he said excludes the other promotional aspects such as printing of uniforms and other prizes.
