GDF $500,000 richer as Super Eight winners receive prizes

President’s Beer winner Guyana Defence Force (GDF) yesterday collected their $500,000 cash prize and trophy from the sponsors Banks DIH Limited at Thirst Park.

GDF defeated Sunburst Camptown earlier this year to capture the title. Camptown yesterday received $250,000 cash prize and a trophy while Fruta Conquerors and Santos collected $150,000 and $100,000 and trophies for placing third and fourth respectively.

Among those in attendance at the presentation ceremony were Banks DIH Marketing Director, George McDonald, Marketing Executive, Carlton Joao, Guinness Brand Manager Lee Baptiste, Banks Beer Brand Manager, Brian Choo-Hen, Public Relations Officer, Troy Peters, Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart, GFA Vice President of Competitions Mark Phillips, General Secretary Christopher Matthias, Treasurer Dexter Schultz and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Charmine Wade.

Philips in brief remarks said “We are in the twilight of the 2012 season and all lovers of the sport are hereby invited to be a part of the Banks Beer Cup which opens tomorrow at the GCC ground.”
